Gulab Jamun (Indian Dessert) Recipe
The traditional dessert of India is these donuts called gulab jamun. However, gulab jamun is made with condensed milk, not dough, and fried in plain oil instead of oil. Cardamom and rose water are added to the syrup to give it aroma. Gulab also means rose water. Recipe: Gulab Jamun (Sweet Dish)
Ingredients for Gulab Jamun (Indian Dessert) Recipe
For Dough
- 50 g of melted butter
- 200 gr Pınar milk powder (for cakes)
- 1 glass of water + 3 tablespoons of milk
- 1.5 teaspoons of baking powder
- 4 tablespoons of flour
For Sherbet
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1.5 cups of water
- 2 pcs of cardamom
- 4-5 drops of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of rose water optionally
For Fry
- Liquid oil
Gulab Jamun (Indian Dessert) Recipe Preparation
Put sugar, water and cardamom in a saucepan for our sherbet. When it starts to boil, add 4-5 drops of lemon and make a thick sherbet and leave it to warm aside.
We mix milk powder, melted and cooled butter and 1 glass of milk into a slurry.
Take the mixture in a non-stick pan and cook it on low heat until it has the consistency of halva and take it from the stove.
When the mixture is warm, let’s add 4 tablespoons of flour and baking powder.
When the dough becomes crumbly, let’s knead it for 10 minutes by adding 3 tablespoons of milk.
Prepare balls a little bigger than the ball.
Fry it on low heat, stirring constantly,
Throw our hot balls into it while our sherbet has cooled down.
