Cyprus Dessert (galete flour) Recipe


For the Cypriot dessert cake

-4 eggs
-1 glass of galete flour
-1 cup of coconut
-1 cup of crushed walnuts
-Half a glass of granulated sugar
-Half a glass of vegetable oil
-1 packet of baking powder

For the sherbet

-2 glasses of water
-1.5 cups sugar
-Thin slice of lemon

For the cream

-1 liter milk
-Half a glass of granulated sugar
-2 heaping tablespoons of starch
-2 heaped tablespoons of flour
-1 pack of whipped cream powder
-1 packet of vanilla

Preparation of Cyprus Dessert Recipe

First, prepare the syrup of the dessert.
Mix the water and sugar until the sugars dissolve, when the sherbet starts to become fluid, add thin slices of lemons.
Let the thickened syrup cool.
Then take all the cream ingredients except whipped cream in a large saucepan and mix on low heat until solid.
Take the cream of the Cypriot dessert to cool and add the whipped cream to the cooled mixture, mix the cream and refrigerate to cool well.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until the bridge, about five minutes.
Then add the oil and powdered sugar to the mixture and beat well.
Then slowly add the galete flour and baking powder to the mixture.
After adding coconut and crushed walnuts, gently mix our mixture from bottom to top with the help of a silicone spatula or wooden spoon.

We pour the mixture into the oiled cake mold, hit the pan several times on a flat surface to eliminate air pockets in the mixture.
Put the cake mixture in a preheated 160 degree oven and bake for 30 minutes.
After the first heat of the cake comes out, make holes on it with a fork and pour the sherbet.
Let the cake sherbet cool and wait for it to cool.
Spread the cold cream on the desserts with the sherbet and put the dessert in the fridge.
You can sprinkle coconut on your dessert and serve.

Gently mix the solid ingredients from bottom to top to make the cake rise better.
Be careful not to open the oven door for 20-25 minutes after the mixture is in the oven so that the cake does not lose its fluffiness.
