This recipe, which actually uses quark, is also known as “German style cheesecake”. We call it cheesecake because it resembles cheesecake in terms of texture and flavor. However, it is much lighter than that. While applying the recipe, we preferred strained yogurt in order to be more economical and easily accessible. If you wish, you can try our recipe by using the same amount of quark. It is also important that the strained yogurt you will use has a thick consistency. Keep in mind.

Ingredients for Yogurt Cake Recipe

For the dough:

  • 100 grams of butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¹ egg
  • 1 cup flour

For the inside:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons powdered sugar
  • 3 cups of plain yogurt (glasses must be full)
  • 1.5 teaspoons of oil
  • 1 package vanilla powder pudding
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 packs of vanilla

The Tip of a Yogurt Cake Recipe

The secret is to cook slowly until it gets browned without ever opening the oven door. Your cake will collapse slightly inward. Do not neglect to let it rest at room temperature after cooking. You can prepare a thicker and more delicious cake by using quark instead of strained yogurt.

How to Make Yogurt Cake Recipe?

Start by preparing the dough. Transfer the butter into a bowl and whisk. Then add the egg and powdered sugar and keep whisking until it gets a creamy consistency.

Then, add flour and collect the dough by hand until it gets a homogeneous consistency.

Wrap the dough in cling film and rest in the refrigerator for 40 minutes.

Start preparing the filling. Break the eggs and whisk them together with the sugar. Then add the oil, vanilla and powdered pudding and continue whisking.


Add the yogurt and lemon peels and whisk into the mixture until it is well-fed.

Roll out the dough on a floured counter. Place the rolled dough in a 28 cm greased springform cake tin. Place the dough on the edges and fit it well.

Pour the liquid mixture you have prepared into it. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees for a period of approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes. Leave it in the oven with the oven door closed for 15 more minutes.

Take it out and let it cool for 1 hour at room temperature. Let it rest in the fridge for 1 hour after it cools down and serve by slicing.
